Today lets celebrate not only her talent, lets celebrate her dedication to UNICEF. In 1988 Audrey found herself in her greatest role yet when she became the Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF.
In the haunting picture above Audrey carries a malnourished child in her arms. Audrey Hepburn began to make fewer films so she could dedicate a fair amount of time to the causes that meant a lot to her. She began working with the organization in 1954. As a child Audrey experienced several troubles including a broken home and a war torn Netherlands. During this time she herself suffered undernourishment. She saw one brother sent away to a German work camp and another go into hiding. It was her experiences here that ignited her devotion to UNICEF.
Today most people recognize her for her Staring role as Holly Golightly in the now iconic Breakfast at Tiffany’s but she is more than the talented actress, far more than the fashion icon. She was a good and kind heart. The world should remember her more for that than anything.
